Army Specialist Cesar served in the Army National Guard in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. Deployed to Kuwait, he was seriously injured and sent back to the states to recover. Still active duty in the National Guard and recovering from recent surgery related to his service injuries, Cesar was waiting for medical orders that would address his future service in the Army. During this period, he was not receiving a paycheck, and his wife’s income alone was not sufficient to cover the family’s expenses. Cesar reached out to SALUTE for help and SALUTE was able to pay the family’s mortgage and utility bills for one month.
