Lawrence enjoyed his time in the Navy – so much so that after he completed his first tour of duty, he returned to the Navy Reserves to help with recruiting sailors in his hometown. Twenty-nine years after he first enlisted in the Navy, Lawrence retired to pursue his dream of getting a degree in exercise science. Money was tight after retirement before his disability pay started. Lawrence fell behind on some of his bills, and he contacted SALUTE for help with household expenses. SALUTE was able to help with car insurance and the electric bill. Lawrence is receiving his full retirement benefits now, so he can fulfill his career goals while he (and his son!) are at school full-time.
