TAKING TIME TO RECOVER

TAKING TIME TO RECOVER

Senior Airman Jonathon served in the U. S. Airforce for over four years, including deployments to Iraq.  Returning home from his time in the military, Jonathon began his career as a firefighter, married his sweetheart and happily welcomed two children into the family.  Although on the surface it seemed that life was perfect for Jonathon, underneath he struggled with lingering PTSD related to his time in the service.  Reluctantly, Jonathon realized he would need to enroll in inpatient treatment to achieve relief from his symptoms.  Taking 12 weeks off from work with no pay to attend the VA’s program was a very tough decision for Jonathon and his wife.    In order to keep up with the household expenses, Jonathon reached out to SALUTE, INC. for help and we were happy to provide two months of mortgage payments to the family.

“I wanted to give you our sincerest thank you for your organization’s assistance. Our family had to make a difficult decision for Jonathon to take 12 weeks off work with no pay in order to seek treatment at the VA’s SDTU program for mental health PTSD treatment. To state it was a hardship was an understatement. We are both full-time working parents that depend on our dual income. By providing us with assistance we had one less worry. This relief allowed us to put more energy into being strong for each other and our children – which is exactly what we needed to get through this difficult time and heal. Our appreciation can’t be stressed enough.”  SRA Jonathon’s Family
