OPTIMISTIC AND GRATEFUL

OPTIMISTIC AND GRATEFUL

In his 18 years in the Army and Army National Guard, which included time with Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan,  SSG Matthew was exposed to many traumatic situations.  His civilian job as a fire fighter also contributed to a substantial problem with PTSD, which added to the challenges of everyday life.  Fortunately, he enrolled in a hospital-based mental health program and was able to devote several weeks to intensive therapy which addressed his specific symptoms of PTSD.  Falling behind on rent and car payments had caused Matthew great stress over possible eviction and repossession of the car.  SALUTE was happy to assist Matthew with car payments to avoid repossession and loss of transportation for the family.

“Your company heard and saw me and my struggles when I was invisible to most and for that I will always be thankful.  The kindness your organization showed me…It gave me hope, relieved a lot of stress and made me feel optimistic and grateful for my future.  Thank you so much from the bottom of my heart.”  SSG Matthew, Army (Retired)
