LIFE AFTER THE ARMY

LIFE AFTER THE ARMY

Career Army Staff Sergeant Art was deployed with Operation Iraqi Freedom when he suffered a serious injury. Recovering stateside at the Fort Campbell Warrior Transition Unit, Art contemplated his future after his expected retirement due to his injuries.  His civilian career had been in Emergency Medical Services (EMS), a field he planned to return to after his retirement from the Army.

Looking for opportunities to refresh his EMS skills, Art located a nearby conference which was offering classes and workshops on traumatic injuries and the latest innovations in pre-hospital treatment.  Art contacted SALUTE, INC. to see if it was possible to receive financial assistance for the cost of the conference.   SALUTE was able to pay for his conference fees and help ensure Art’s successful transition from the military to the civilian sector.

“Thank you for helping me with the expense of this conference.  I cannot express how grateful I am for your organization’s willingness to assist Soldiers.  I am humbled that people care enough to give.  It has been my honor to be a Soldier for this great country.  And your organization is part of what makes this country so great.  It’s a blessing to live in such a time when our military is so appreciated.  I wish I could thank each person involved individually. “                                                                                                                                                                                           – SSG Art
