INVISIBLE WOUNDS OF WAR

INVISIBLE WOUNDS OF WAR

Staff Sergeant Jim devoted four years to the Marine Corps, which included tours of duty in both Iraq and Afghanistan. Returning home, Jim found a good job and established a happy home with his wife and four children.  Seeking assistance with the invisible wounds of war, Jim found mental health treatment at the Jessie Brown VA center.  Having recently lost his job due to a back injury, Jim’s family was experiencing some financial distress as well.  The VA doctor directed him to SALUTE, where we were able to assist with rent, car payments and utilities, giving him some financial relief as he begins his search for a new job opportunity.

I honestly cannot thank the people at SALUTE enough for the help they’ve given my family and me during this time. I’m truly humbled and beside myself. This is an amazing program run by people that legitimately care about the veteran community. This act of pure kindness speaks volumes of the organization and their mission. I don’t have enough good things to say about Salute.  Thank you again.                                                                                   SSG Jim
