HOPING TO GIVE BACK

HOPING TO GIVE BACK

“Exiting the military and transitioning into the civilian world is extremely daunting, even more so when you’re doing that with a disability.”  Those were the thoughts of Raphael, as he left the Air Force after 14 years, suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder, a traumatic brain injury and other injuries. His career in the military as a Security Forces Journeyman had been demanding and rewarding, taking him to many countries, including Iraq and Afghanistan.  Retiring with injuries from the Air Force, Raphael needed a full-time caregiver.  His wife began training for the caregiver job, while also running the household for Raphael and his five children.  While waiting for Raphel’s social security disability benefits, the family got behind on their bills.  Raphael contacted SALUTE, INC. for help with their rent, and we were happy to assist the family.

“We will always be grateful for the help you gave our family and hope to be in a place one day to give back…as we know firsthand how it can change the course of a life.”       Senior Airman Raphael
