After her service in the Army, Emily worked hard to return to her previous life and build a happy home with her daughter and husband. Unfortunately, Emily’s spouse was abusive and she needed to separate from him and find a new path for her and her daughter. Feeling overwhelmed by the stress, Emily sought mental health treatment at a hospital-based program, even though they were on the verge of eviction from their apartment. SALUTE assisted Emily with a rental payment, allowing her to attend the program and not worry about her home while she was gone.
Emily wrote to SALUTE:
“I was in a really tough place with nowhere to turn to…I’m not someone who typically asks for assistance, (but) life just happened to me and I needed a hand! I’m beyond grateful that SALUTE was able to step in to assist me and my daughter in such a rapid and respectful manner. I cannot put into words the joy I have felt without the pressures and stress, trying to figure out if we were going to have a roof over our heads. Thank you!”
