Roberto was deployed to Iraq three times during his 12 years of service in the Army. Despite injuries suffered during his service, Roberto is currently working and enrolled in the V.A.’s Vet Success on Campus (VSOC) program. The VSOC program aims to help veterans succeed and thrive through a coordinated delivery of on-campus benefits assistance and counseling, leading to completion of their education and preparing them to enter the labor market in viable careers. Attending school reduced the hours Roberto could work, and put his family in a tough place financially.
SALUTE was able to help Roberto and his family with rent and car expenses, which allowed him to continue his studies at college. His family expressed their thanks to SALUTE as follows: “your support has been a miraculous answer to our prayers”.
